PSB Level III Re-Certification Part 2

The price includes the Defensive Tactics and the Firearms Qualification.

Description

You’ll receive the Level III re-certification after completing the Online Theory, Defensive Tactics AND Firearms Qualification.

  • Range fees and Ammo expenses are not included in  PSB Level III Re-Certification Part 1 or PSB Level III Re-Certification Part 2.
  • After completion of PSB Level III Re-Certification Part 1, you will receive a Certificate of Training and a form PSB 31.

Effective January 1, 2024, HB 3424 requires:

  1. All Handgun proficiency and self-defense courses must be completed in person with an on-site instructor approved by the Department.
  2. All level IV training courses must be completed in person with an on-site instructor approved by the Department.
  3. All original and renewing applicants for a commissioned security officer license are required to complete the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI).
  4. If an individual is licensed as a personal protection officer and commissioned security officer, we will use the MMPI on file to satisfy the requirement to submit the MMPI when they renew the commission license.
  5. Self-defense tactics must be included as part of the level III training for commissioned security officers and personal protection officers. (The self-defense tactics were previously included in the training material; HB 3424 makes it a requirement.)
  6. Hours required for Level III recertification: Minimum 6 hours (2.5 hours Lecture, 3.5 hours practical, although additional hours are recommended)
  7. The Defensive Tactics Instructor will sign off on the DT of the PSP 31.
  8. The Firearms Instructor will sign off on the firearms qualification of the PSP 31.

Certificate of Training

  • The LMS system generates the certificate of training upon completion of the online training.
  • Upon completion of the training, AEPS Corp is notified of the completion of the course.
  • The certificate of training can be saved from the officer account/login dashboard – completed courses – view results.

This certificate of training is for the officer’s portfolio only

Form PSB 31

  • The renewal license requires a PSB 31
  • AEPS Corp will complete the form PSB 31 for the online training.
  • AEPS Corp will send the officer the PSB 31
  • The PSB 31 needs to be completed by a licensed PSB firearms/defensive tactics instructor.
    1. If AEPS Corp is providing the firearms qualification, the officer must purchase PSB Level III Re-Certification Part 2 and AEPS Corp will complete the PSB 31
    2. Do not purchase PSB Level III Re-Certification Part 2 if AEPS Corp isn’t providing the firearms qualification
  • The officer must qualify with a revolver/semi-auto pistol with a PSB-approved firearms instructor to complete the re-certification process
  • The completed PSB 31 is then attached to the DPS PSB home page via your TOPS profile as proof of continuing education for re-certification

Firearms Completion Form

For PSB auditing purposes, the PSB-licensed firearms instructor providing the firearms qualification must complete the Firearms Completion Form and return the form to AEPS Corp.

Note: Licensed Managers may take the course to fulfill 6 hours of continuing education (CE) credits toward maintaining their Manager’s License.
