Description
This course teaches the basic theories for the application of O/C in a Use of Force situation.
This course discusses the advantages and disadvantages of O/C to include the escalation and de-escalation of force during a threatening confrontation.
Continuing Education
- If this course is for recertification or continuing education purposes, the student completing this course will receive a certificate of training for 2 hours of O/C theory.
- Some agencies require update training every 2 years
Initial Certification
The student completing this course will receive a certificate of training for 2 hours of O/C theory.
- The student will need to complete the skills portion of the training with a certified O/C trainer.
- The skills training should incorporate drills which simulate a wide variety of street encounters which may require the use of O/C.
The O/C certification is a lifetime certification that does not expire. - Some agencies require update training every 2 years.
The information contained herein is universal in nature as it pertains to procedures, law, application, contamination, decontamination and reporting the use of OC in a force situation.
- This course discusses the advantages and disadvantages of O/C to include the verbal communication, officer presence and alternative options to the use of O/C in a force encounter.
- At the completion of this course the student will be able to recite the proper use of Oleoresin Capsicum.
