What is workplace conflict?

  • Workplace conflict is conflict, violence or the threat of conflict or violence against workers.
  • It can occur at or outside the workplace and can range from threats and verbal abuse to physical assaults and homicide, one of the leading causes of job-related deaths.
  • However it manifests itself, workplace conflict is a growing concern  or employers and employees nationwide.

Course Goal

Through the Learning Management System and on the job training, the employee will be able to understand and articulate the cause and effect of workplace conflict.

Terminal Performance Objective

All employees will be able to articulate what workplace conflict is and use this information to recognize, prevent and/or report workplace conflict incidents to the appropriate management personnel in order to help deal with incidents and prevent future incidents.

Enabling Performance Objectives

  1. Recognize the dynamics of Workplace Violence.
  2. Recognize the three types of individuals who have the potential to bring violence to the workplace.
  3. Recognize the warning signs workplace violence and the national statistics of workplace violence.
  4. Recognize the economic Impact of Workplace Violence.
  5. Identify how to prevent violence in the workplace recognize proper survival techniques for workplace violence.
